    Exams, Coffee Machines and Shares

Good afternoon! As promised to my favourite overseas friend, I re-commence blogging. Gotta keep the world updated on the wonderful world of me! So Happy New Year! Last time I wrote I think I was over-run with studying for exams. Exams are now over with and results are published. Mine being ABBBC which although at first sight seems pretty good, it’s screwed me for getting into medicine this year, and so we begin plan B of life. I had a lovely Christmas, I went to my parents back in Carluke for the traditional Christmas dinner and I was then working later on at night which was the easiest shift I have ever done, for the most money ever! For New Year I took Jamie to my parents and we just sat and played Monopoly and drank Baileys. (The liqueur not the cat.)

We have since returned to University, which I am most please about as I get depressed having nothing to do all day. I have a nice timetable this year, although I am in at 9am four days a week, I am never in later than 2pm and I am off on Tuesdays. :) So far I have only missed one day and that was yesterday due to being ill and I have been keeping up on my lecture notes etc. I actually do enjoy learning, I’m a geek at heart. I’m liking most of my subjects, with the exception of Molecules of Life which I have been forced to continue on with from the first semester, it’s all about DNA and such; in my opinion, there is only so much to know about DNA before it becomes incredibly repetitive and boring. And Drugs & Disease which has a rubbish lecturer, too much writing and way too much scientific jargon for my liking.

Jamie and I are still very happy together, having completed the flat with the addition of a lovely chocolate and cream fireplace which my parents bought us for Christmas, and a Dolce Gusto Nescafe coffee machine which although was such a bother to finally get (rant later), it’s brilliant! We have also got a new coffee table and a new bookcase to match. We had our Christmas tree up for so long that when we finally took it down we thought there was such a big empty space that we’ve decided book-collecting is the way to go!

So about this coffee machine. Jamie's Mum & John bought us it for our Christmas and Jamie decided it was making too much noise. So we got his parents to send it back, which took a while to finally get it refunded and went in search of another one as cheap as possible. So we landed upon Argos as we get 10% discount and had a £5 voucher lying around which could also be put toward it. So we went online to reserve one and found out there was only one available near us, and it was away out at Braehead. But we were desperate to have it for the weekend for our morning espressos so we went out to get it, in rush hour, which took us about 2 hours. Upon getting it home and unpacking it, we discover it has been used! Not only has it been unpacked, but had smelly coffee still in it and most of the sample coffee pods were gone! So Jamie called to complain and they said there was none in stock except away out at Silverburn and this could only be reserved until 7pm the following day, which was Saturday. As this was the best on offer, we asked to reserve it and after finishing work at 6pm had to rush out to Silverburn and pick up this new machine. Thankfully upon getting it home, it was properly packaged and not used. However after all that, it makes the same noise.

We have also taken the risky decision of investing in RBS. As a staff member, I get discounted shares. So we are investing £15,000 in RBS in the hope that after 5 years the share price will have increased from its dire level of 10p up to at least £1 and we shall be rich. Or up to £10 and we shall be millionaires! Ah I do feel all financially knowledgeable with my shares. So people put your faith in the RBS :)

So the plan for this evening. I am going to Tesco to do the shopping, then I shall do my houseworking tasks. And then I am going to copy up the lectures I missed yesterday. We’ll maybe go to the cinema later to see 7 pounds.
