2/22/2008 MathsI failed maths. Well, technically I didn't fail according to Glasgow Uni. Because I achieved a grade E2 which isn't actually an F. It's mocking me. I can't pass, and I can't even properly fail. I'm useless. However! I'm not too phased. I went to see my advisor and he assures me I'm not going to have to resit it. As long as I get C's and B's this semester, and I don't drastically screw up any of my lab work or coursework I'll be fine. Maths shall not suceed in ruining me life! I won't let it! This week's been not bad. I did a poster presentation in biology on Tuesday. Yes, I'm at university and our assignment is to make a bloody poster. Apparently it's beneficial to backtrack to primary 5 and reestablish our colouring in skills. It was rather amusing though, as we'd printed off some fancy looking structures of adrenaline and we got asked what the structures were supposed to represent. So we blabbed on about electron densities and I think we made it sound so damn complicated that the examiner just presumed we knew what we were talking about! Jamie's been ill this week. Which is a shame of course, more so a shame because this put me in the position of "Jamie's Slave" which means I have to run after him because of course being a man, he thinks he's dying. However, this does mean I have a pretty valid excuse for being off uni for a couple of days. I missed lectures on Wednesday and Thursday but I'm letting myself off because Wednesday I went to a training session for Top-Up and earned myself some cash. Top-Up is a program designed for current 5th/6th years where they come to university for a day and attend a mock seminar and lecture, and generally get shown around the place by current students. It's supposed to make them feel more at ease about starting university, and give them a chance to ask questions to a current student rather than a lecturer or staff member. It should be quite fun I reckon. Today I had a chemistry test which i reckon didn't go too badly. Touch wood. And it's bloody hailstoning and I'm dying of coldness right now. *Sigh* Don't you love Scotland in February? I'm off home tomorrow to see the Carluke people who I miss. I need to catch up with them and see if I can persuade any of them to come to Glasgow uni. Because it's clearly better than all the other unis. No really, it is. You can answer half a question of a maths paper and still not be told you've failed. :) 2/10/2008 Employment?I need to start writing in this bitch some more I know. My main news currently is the fact I've nearly almost got a job. I've been for interviews and got through subject to performance at a training day. it's at Lloyds TSB and is Sat/Sun. I have a bit of a moan through, I originally applied for a job at Barklays but it was Tue/Wed/Thur/Sat evenings and I didn't think I could do Tuesday evenings due to biology labs. But after researching, it turns out that the job is at 6pm not 5pm so I could do it. I've emailed the agency back and hopefully I can be put forward for that one. |
