    My effing ARMS

Have you ever took a wheelchair up 600 steps? Don’t. Ever. We went to Chatelherault today and intended on going a nice leisurely walk and then chilling while eating a picnic. But we decided to follow this interesting looking path, which was quite nice, up until it started going very steeply up hill. But we managed okay, got to the top of the hill and we’ve come across steps going up the cliff. So having come that far already, we decide a few steps won’t hurt. Ben’s determined to go too. So Dad and me manage somehow to get Ben in the wheelchair up these steps. Only to discover... More steps.

And they were steeper, so we ended up having to carry him backwards up another 300 odd steps. Why by the way is fucking agony on my arms! We got to the top of those, and met more steps. But they were too steep to take the wheelchair up, so I carried Ben up and Dad bumped the chair up. Back is now done in! But yes, we made it up the steps and from there it was a nice flat walk back to the castle. And we just lied down on a bench and ate our picnic. Effing knackered!

After that we drove to the garden centre which was shite, and then drove home. And me and Dad went and got cakes at Kilncadzow. Mmmm... Strawberry tart.

I hurt so much tonight, seriously, I’ve been in the bath and everything, but I really can’t see me being able to move tomorrow!

    Fuck, an inch!?

Sundays are for sleeping... So I slept ‘til 12 and then went and sat in the shower for a bit. And then cleaned the pigs. And that’s about all I’ve done. Then had my driving lesson at 5 today, later than usual. It was a pretty good lesson, we went to Hamilton again and did roundabouts. I’m crap at staying in the right lane. And apparently I drive far too close to the kerb, which is bad. But I’m improving. Oh yes and I did the worst left reverse ever when I was coming home and my Dad was totally watching me and now he thinks I’m a bad driver, which I’m not!

I’ve to put Aidan in here, he has a midget cock fetish and thinks I’m a cock tease. Which I’m not by the way, regardless of what Garrie might say!

    2 wheels

I was up really early today as well. Like, earlier than everyone else. Well actually I was full of good intentions of getting up at eight, but ended up pressing snooze every five minutes until ten past nine. But yes I was up. As I had a driving lesson at 11. She was late again today actually.

Anyway, we went up to Braidwood and went the windy road to Larkhall which was good as she wanted to show me how to move up and down gears to slow and speed up and to be in a flexible gear for tight bends etc. Also because it was a really narrow road I’d have to deal with letting oncoming traffic pass safely. That was quite fun. Then once in Larkhall we did some hazard perception where she got me to point out all the hazards. We also did emerging, peep and creep coming out of some junctions there.

Then we pulled up and talked about crossings. Then we went into Hamilton and had a little drive around there and then she told me to go back to Carluke on my own via the Clydeside. Except, she said I was to do the whole of the Clydeside without touching the brakes, I was like “what!?” But she explained that to slow down I would just go down a gear, and that I didn’t need to slow for many bends anyway and it was safe to take them at 40-45mph. Eek. However I did it okay and although it was scary I can totally see what she means by “engine braking,” makes sense to me now!

It was quite weird driving without her telling me to watch out for things, or telling me which gear I should be in and when I should be indicating, but it was fun! And just as I was nearly home I turned into a road and there was this lorry blocking the whole road, on the brow of a hill and I just thought “oh crap” but I handled it okay. She’s trying to get me used to driving on my own for my test, she keeps going “we’re doing this for the test now!” Which is scaring me slightly.

As we were coming up to my house she decided we had some extra time so we went up to the housing estate and parked up and she got me to do a full left reverse. Although I do this every time I come home in the turning bay at the end of my road, the full left reverse starts off 4 car lengths from the corner and ends up 4 car lengths from the corner. So I did that okay, apart from I keep getting confused as to which way to turn the wheel! I don’t even know why as it’s obvious really! Then we went home after that.

Uncle Colin was in when we came home and he was going on about how he failed his first driving test, and then I figured that Mum also failed her first driving test. So how cool would it be if I passed first time?

I’ve been practising more theory and I’m getting 34 or 35 every time so I’m pretty confident about that part, and after today I’m getting better scores on the hazard perception part too. I’ve ordered disks off the internet and Pamela’s copying one for me for tomorrow. Ahh I can’t believe I’m sitting this freakin’ test on Thursday! That’s bloody scary. I’m not that scared yet... But I will be!

Oh aye, and we finally have the bathrooms all sorted. The bath got fitted finally today, so we now have two showers and one bath. I was actually going to have a bath tonight, but I got sidetracked talking to a random guy that I’m going to a random gig with. Crazy.

    7/27/2007

    OMGZ

Today was pretty good. I was up before everyone else and went for my driving lesson at 10. We booked tonnes more lessons, that’s me gone semi-intensive now. So I have jam packed lessons now! Anyway, we went to Hamilton today and dealt with scary roundabouts and scary traffic which was surprisingly fun! I’m much more confident now I have to say! We also did hill starts, both uphill and downhill pretty damn perfectly. I didn’t stall AT ALL today! And I’ve become much better at matching my speed to my gear and driving the correct distance away from the kerb/parked cars. It’s all going so well!

When I came home I did something brave... I booked my theory test! Ahh! There must have been a cancellation because when I looked there was none for a few weeks and then when me and Mum went on it to book there was a slot for next week! So my theory test is next Thursday at 2pm! I’m actually scared! I’m totally cool with the actual theory part, but I keep failing the hazard perception mock tests, which can’t be a good sign!

Mum made these really good cocktails tonight, with yellow stuff and blue stuff and vodka in them. They’re called Blue Monkey’s apparently. Dad’s pished. Har har.

    What A Fanny

I slept for over 12 hours last night and I feel good. I would probably have slept longer but the postman woke me up, bastard. And then when I got up I made this gorgeous smoothie with random fruits in it and I can’t reproduce it now because I can’t remember what the hell I put in it!

We went out to get Mum from work, and then went to go and get some plastic stuff for something. I don’t even know what for. That was fun. And then I was back to being bored. I better go to bed actually because I have a driving lesson at 10 tomorrow and I don’t want to be half asleep for it because I’m actually looking forward to it. Yay driving. I feel like I haven’t driven in ages though.

    Partyyyy

The morning after the night before eh?

Yesterday was good, I persuaded my Dad to drive me into my flat so I could take all the stuff with me, aka booze. So he drove me in at like 2ish but people didn’t come for the party until later. Garrie came and then we went to Morrison’s and got ice and then went to go and meet David, Robert, Elizabeth, Debbie and Carrie-Anne at the station, but they had already walked to my flat because Robert remembered the way, so we did eventually meet up there.

Then Garrie and Rob and I went to Subway where we were bugged by some drunk Glaswegian dude who said I was Cleopatra. We walked back from there and people were already half drunk. So then we went a wander into the car park and Duncan shouted us up so we went up there for a bit and then David, Garrie and I went back to my own flat because their door was broken. Then Garrie and I went to meet Garrie’s friend Anthony and went back to mine, but most of the people were still over at Duncan’s so we just left them there.

Umm I don’t really know what happened after that, Elizabeth, Debbie, Carrie-Anne and Rob went home so it was just Garrie, Anthony, David and me left and we got a little tipsy and I made David have a tequila shot. And we made super noodles at some point during the night. Oh my God, Anthony is actually one of the nicest people I’ve met, he just does exactly as he’s told, perfect guy huh? Debbie likes him...

I think Anthony went home at some point and then Garrie and David and I went to sleep in the bed. Kinky threesome oh aye. We got up at like 9am but missed the 9am train so ended up getting the 9:45 train. And I fell asleep all the way home. I’m going to go sleep now actually. Hey guess what, I have no hangover at all!

    7/24/2007

    Sunshine

Today was really fun! After lounging about the house drinking free samples of Lucozade, we went and picked up Mum. Then we went to ASDA to do shopping, and my parents actually bought me alcohol. My parents clearly rock above everyone else’s parents, well, for today at least. Also, I love how our weird little family take guesses on how much the shopping is going to cost. I won today. =)

Mental note: I owe my Dad money.

I’m having a small-ish party at the flat tomorrow, should be good. If you want to come let me know and I’ll maybe invite you. If you haven’t been invited already. I’m excited ^_^

    7/22/2007

    I run myself

Today has consisted of me sleeping in until like 2pm. And then I was bored so I ended up watching bid-up TV. What the hell? Some people buy things that allow them to hang off poles by their tool, without damaging their nuts. Crazy. Then me and Ben were bored so we ended up playing the keyboard. Well, I mean playing in the loosest possible way. But I’ve learned some more of It Ends Tonight. I can now play up to the 3rd line of lyrics, with both hands, and not really slowly. Well chuffed.

Quote of the day comes from my little brother: “I’m sick this and that I’m fifteen years old not three and you kiss me goodnight get a life. I run myself.” It was funny at the time.

    I'm really bored

I’m really bored today. I wanted to go out but Mum got herself glued to the Internet and refused to move, so we didn’t go anywhere.

    7/20/2007

    Ben's back!

Yes, my wee brother is back in da house. I was up at 8am this morning so we could go and pick him up at 10. So we picked him up and he’s all happy to see us again! Then we went to the pet shop and bough pet supplies, and then Dad suggests we get some more fish for our tank in the living room. So we got 10 more fishies. Then on the way home we went to Kilnkadzow for cream cakes, that place is the best for strawberry tarts that are so big, they’re like a meal.

Then we went home and found out all that Ben was up to. Turns out he went to see Harry Potter on Wednesday too, he liked it too. And he’s been to the safari park, and he’s been cooking and God knows what else. He’s had fun though, but it’s nice to have him back.

    Lazzzy Day

I love being lazy. I actually didn’t get out of bed ‘til 2pm, but Dad woke me up sometime before that to tell me that he can insure me on my car for £500, which is pretty damn amazing for fully comprehensive cover, with breakdown cover too. Hopefully I can actually persuade him to get it. Then I can drive my wee car! ^_^ Haven’t really done much else today, it’s still too quiet without Ben here, but we’re going to pick him up again tomorrow – yay noise again!

    7/19/2007

    FREE INTERNET FTW

I got up really early today, and farted about straightening my hair for ages. Then my Dad was just getting up and he’s usually grumpy so I thought I’d escape out of the house at about 10am. I had a wee wander round Carluke, and posted Amazon stuff and then went down to the station. And I missed a fast train. So I sat and gossiped to the ticket dude for ages and ended up getting my fare for 5p. Awesome huh?

So I got the train to the SECC and got off there and went another little wander to see if it was quicker to get to my flat without going through the actual SECC. It’s marginally quicker, still a 15 min walk though. It’s a nicer walk though because there’s people and shops! And I didn’t get myself too lost which was good. I went to the flat and picked up my internet cable (Omg, they give you a free cable) and the girl explained that you just plug it in, enter your name and debit card number and off you go. I also inquired if Imi was in my flat, and it turns out she is, in room 5, across from big Derek. I went back to my room, meeting Derek in his pyjamas on the way – random – and went to set up my internet. So I plugged it in and sure enough it asks for my name, then it was supposed to ask for payment details, but it didn’t! So I was online for free! How awesome is that? So after farting about there for a bit I went and got the train to Central to meet Garrie.

Met Garrie, I missed that boy too much! And we went a wee wander to the cinema where we saw Harry Potter. And it was allocated seating, I’ve never been to a film where they allocate seats before, but it was PACKED. It was a good film though, Harry and Hermione are hot! Then after the film we went another wee wander to George Square, and then another wee wander to the station where I had to leave him again. =[

I decided to go back to my flat to pick up my laptop, rather than leaving it there, so I did that, and then got an incredibly slow train home, really, it took like an hour and a half from the SECC to Carluke. Got to Carluke and I was starving so I went to the chippy and then walked up towards Nicole, and met Nicole and Ross on the way. I’ve missed that girl waaay too much! So walking up the road we had a 90mph gossip which was good, good catch-up. Then we went to her house and Rob and Elizabeth joined in with the gossip.

IDK quite what else went on, we ended up hiding behind a caravan. We’re such children – I love it!

I love my friends and I love my Garrie and I’m way too happy. Goodnight!

    7/17/2007

Today was a good day. I was woken up at half 7, but I went back to sleep. Because Dad and Ben went back to bed as well.

Driving lesson today. It was possibly my lest lesson yet! We went to Larkhall, and did all the hellish roads there. It’s only hellish because they have road works everywhere, and quick changing traffic lights! I actually didn’t mess anything up though. We did unmarked crossroads too. Then we went into a quiet road and I did the turn in the road pretty damn perfectly about four times on my own. That’s my favourite manoeuvre! I messed it up once and had to do it in 5 turns, but my instructor said that wouldn’t fail you on  driving test as sometimes the road doesn’t allow you to do it in 3, or it would be unsafe to continue to do it in 3.

Then coming back into Carluke I didn’t roll backwards at the traffic lights I always roll backwards at which I was chuffed at, particularly because there was someone else right up my butt and if I’d have rolled I would have hit her. Then we had a wee jolly around Carluke to practice changing down gear before going round a corner to use engine braking, and it’s actually amazing how much easier it is to do that rather than to brake and end up trying to go round a corner in 3rd gear.

Then as we were jollying around Carluke, she goes “right then, go home.” So I got to take myself home, do a reverse around a corner to turn at the end of my road, and pull up outside my house all by myself without her telling me anything, so I was pleased about that too and the only thing I did wrong on my way home was signalling too early to turn into my road, and signalling to pull over outside my house when a signal wasn’t necessary as there was no one around.

I’ve decided that as of next week I’m going to do semi-intensive lessons, because my instructor says that if I want to, I can have the test passed by the time I’m off to university, and of course I want that. I’ve only had 11 hours though, and the average is 45 hours! So I do have a lot to work on, but I’m feeling pretty confident after today, and I’m back to enjoying driving. Haha, I’ll hate it again as soon as we hit Hamilton again!

Rest of the day, well when I got back from driving my parents were already away with Ben to respite, and then they came back and since then the house is too quiet. It’s weird. I don’t think Ben makes that much noise, it just seems quiet. I’m all alone at this end of the house too.

Tomorrow I’m going to Glasgow to see Garrie, yay! I miss him, I haven’t seen him in a whole week! (L)

    Another...

Pointless day really... I woke up, realised I was having a really good dream, so went back to bed like the lazy ass that I am. Then got up again when said dream failed to resume itself. Bah!

Actually, I wrote my CV. Properly, like in a format I might actually sent to potential employers. I’m quite proud of it actually, and I’m going to look for a job. Hopefully a job in Glasgow because then I can move out to my flat permanently.

    7/15/2007

    Garden Shed.

I slept in the morning, until I was awoken by Garrie, but I just went back to sleep anyway. Then when I did get up I was summoned to the garden by my Dad to help him clear out the two garden sheds, one of which is “his” and the other is supposedly “mine”. It’s really quite amazing the amount of utter junk my family hoards. We have so many bikes, lawn mowers, garden furniture, it’s actually unbelievable.

And I took Peter and Muffin out and let them go in the run which hasn’t been run in for months, so it’s completely overgrown with grass and dandelion leaves, and if you’re a rodent this is heaven! That was quite funny because they didn’t know what to eat first, and then I lost Muffin because he ran into the most spidery corner in the whole garden! Oh yes and I cleaned out the pig room today too. I’m in an awfy cleaning mood the day!

    Grandparents

Today I went up to my grandparents, and showed them my new laptop, and we gossiped for a while. Grandma has been tracing her family tree, which is proving quite interesting. So I’m trying to persuade Dad to trace his because he has family he’s never met and I might have cousins I’ve never met which would be cool. We had dinner up there, and that was about it. Fun fun.

I have resolved my guy-fight. I decided that I know I like Garrie, and I’m not sure if I like Duncan. It seems silly to string them both along, and it seems mean to pick one and ditch the other. So I’m not like officially going out with anyone, but I’m seeing Garrie I suppose, but Duncan I think is okay with it. I’m just seeing what happens, y’know.

    7/14/2007

    Laptop

I was up at 7am this morning. Impressive huh? I was feeling really sick actually. And I had a driving lesson at 10am and was still being sick at 9:55am. However I went to the lesson and we sat and talked about my drunken night and she laughed. I paid for my outstanding lesson and then she said we were going to do some country driving today to build up my confidence after last week’s disaster. So we went up to Lanark and drove around there for a bit before heading to Biggar, driving through there and then coming back via Carnwath.

We went into a little industrial estate and I did the turn in the road twice quite well, and then I drove back. It was a really good drive, it definitely boosted my confidence back up. I don’t like traffic, it makes me nervous, and after today I’m more confident stopping and remembering to clutch, and I’m getting better at moving down gears and using the engine to brake. I actually feel like I can drive today. J

Then just as we pulled up outside my house to talk about the drive and mark down my progress card the van containing my laptop drew up. So I forgot to clutch and stalled. Doh!  So I got my laptop when I got in and got into that! Ahh it’s lovely! It’s quite cute and not too heavy. It’s got a smaller screen than the laptop I have just now but it’s fine for carrying about. So I got everything installed onto that and then Dad announced we were going to pick up Mum. He persuaded me to go with the prospect of a McDonald’s on the way home.

We went and got Mum, me being the passenger driver and telling my Dad off for missing points of turns and not utilising his mirrors! Then we went for the McDonald’s first and then went to Argos to get me pink fairy lights for my flat. I’m putting them either around my shelves above the desk, or around the pin board above my bed. Not sure yet. We were going to go shopping but I demanded we go home so I can play with my laptop and we went home.

I made dinner tonight! I made enchiladas which were actually really lovely! Dad however didn’t like them, but only because I made them and he thinks everything I cook is pish. It’s really not! I had another little play with my laptop, and then was doing some theory studying. Well not a lot really because I'm easily distracted.

Anyway, I have two guys “fighting” over me. It would be funny if I didn’t feel like a bitch for being the cause of the two guys hating each other. Anyway, I have to pick one of them. And anyone who knows me knows how bad I am at making any kind of decisions. Blah. So I think I’m going to the cinema with both of them to see how it goes. I’m a wee slut huh? One drunken night and I’m anybody’s.

    7/12/2007

    I Don't Feel Well

Yes, I don’t feel well, and my laptop didn’t come today. So I’m miffed. And pissed off. And I’m bored. And that’s really all I have to say for myself tonight.

    Laptop

Well this morning I was awoken by some dude cutting tiles in my house. Lovely. Actually, I dreamed someone was cutting tiles in my house and then woke up and realised I wasn’t dreaming. Anyway, I slept on and off for a bit and eventually got up. I arsed about all morning really doing nothing, then went a wee walk to go and post eBay stuffs. Then when I came back I thought I’d go online shopping for a laptop, I found some nice ones around £600 on PC World, but then looked on laptopsdirect.com and found pretty much the same thing for only £350 plus a free internet phone and free next day delivery! So I went and ordered it!

Then I went out to my flat because Duncan said he was having a party, but he decided as I was on my way there that there was no party. Blah. Anyway, I cleaned my flat, that was lovely. Then Garrie came over and seeing as there was nothing to do and big Derek wasn’t talking much we went out for a walk. So we walked to the union, but they wouldn’t let me in because I don’t have a student card, so we went another wee walk around the West End. We actually almost went for posh dinner, but we’re no actually posh, so decided against it!

We walked all the way back, and I got us back without getting us lost, and then I phoned my Mum and she wanted me home so she said I should get the next train home which wasn’t for 45 minutes, so we wandered slowly over to the SECC and sat and talked for a bit before going home. And I almost fell asleep on the train AGAIN. But I got home okay, and I’m not in trouble!

Oh yes, and my laptop comes tomorrow! Yessss! I can’t wait! Then I can live at my flat permanently as I’ll have my Internet to keep my company! Anyways, I’m going to sleep, I don’t feel well.
